Landree had her Dance Recital today. And to say it was a great day would be a lie. Jeff is sick with something (cold/flu?) and leaves for Haiti on Tuesday. I left her gloves at home (she didn’t even notice). I wanted to stop and get flowers (meant to get them last night). And the video camera wasn’t charged like it should have been, whew! BUT, Landree did a fabulous job. She didn’t seem to mind that Jeff couldn’t come, (even though she knew it was pretty special since Mia came to town just to be here for it.) She asked if I videoed so he could watch, I did on my phone, thank goodness for technology (even though it’s not the best quality). We were able to get flowers at the recital. And she was the cutest little cat (with no gloves) on stage. She did a great job, and SHE GOT A TROPHY! And that was really all that mattered. She has taken dance the last three years so she got a recognition trophy, and really that was all that mattered {to her}.
The recital was the perfect amount of time. Hudson did great! He clapped and would say, ready, set, go before every performance. He said, “my sister” about 100 times during her dance number and would dance and clap so proudly after each performance.
We are so proud of our little kitty, Landree Grace!
We followed the recital with ballerina food at Panera where Landree ate an entire bowl of her favorite soup in the whole wide world, Broccoli Cheese and a flower cookie of course. Even though it wasn’t exactly what we had planned it turned out to be a pretty great day followed by rest time, a fancy Chick-fil-a dinner, and watching Toy Story 2. We are all staying home from church tomorrow (which NEVER happens) to rest and hopefully Jeff will be good as new soon!
Landree’s dance teacher was going over the ‘rules’ about leaving there costume alone, and not stopping if they loose their shoes, etc. If you watch the videos you can tell this little pep talk helped :)
I think Hudson was crying because I might have said no to him having a 3rd cupcake. Either way he didn’t want to take a picture, but he’s still a cutie. He did manage to sit and dance along through the entire tap routine. He loves music.
We are so proud of you Landree Grace, you did a fabulous job!
And a little sneak peak at the cute little cupcake toppers I made for the recital.
Sort of: Jeff and I are going to be in Haiti during Landree’s dance recital and I couldn’t bear the thought of missing it or telling her she had to miss it. I asked about rescheduling, but that wasn't good for the other 300 people involved :) I’m only sort of joking. So I thought it would be fun to have a little dress rehearsal at our church on stage and then a small party afterward. Only three other girls were able to participate today, but we had so much fun and Landree loved it and that’s all that matters to me. And Jeff and I got to be there and we didn’t have to sit through another hour and a half of the recital!
They did both a ballet and tap dance. Quite entertaining!

I’ll post more dance pictures soon!
Landree had her first dance recital on Saturday afternoon. She did such a good job, it was fun to watch at least. She is the youngest girl in her class by a year or even two to most of the girls. I was afraid is she saw us in the audience she wouldn’t dance. For some reason when I would come in to pick her up she would always quit dancing. So we (Jeff, Mia, and I) picked a inconspicuous spot on the 2nd row end cap with Hudson and the stroller sitting in the isle hoping she wouldn’t notice, and she didn’t. However, when we put the video camera away and they all came out at the end for a final bow she was hamming it up, waivi ng and smiling at us. HA!
Here are videos mainly for family that couldn’t come. There is about a min before one of them starts so just know it’s coming :)
