Sky Top Orchard 2011

I’m going to go ahead and call this our 1st annual trip to the Apple Orchard, because we went today and had such a wonderful time that I know we will be back year after year!  We started out by heading into the orchard to pick apples.  We found a good spot near some fuji trees and the kids picked and ate and ate.  I took pictures and sweet Jeff picked and pulled the wagon that weighed more than the apples, up and down the gigantic hills in the orchards.

After I carried Hudson and drug Landree we made it back to the barn and the kids played in all the little houses and slides.  I went in to pay for our apples and buy some of the other varieties.  We picked up some for friends and came home with 50 pounds of apples in the back of the car!  Only 25 pounds are for us :)  And after looking at recipes tonight for apple butter, and chips, and apple cake, oh my!  I’m starting to think we didn’t get enough.  The kids are going to be sick of apples, but I’m so excited.  I love being able to go into the freezer when it’s the ‘off season’ and have fresh, ripe, delicious fruit!  I feel like an ‘old-timer’ saying that.  I found this tonight on how to freeze apples.  Plus they told us at the orchard that they should last at least 3 months in the fridge.

They also had all sorts of apple treats.  We got apple donuts {TO. DIE. FOR} and the kids got apple slushies.  I only bought a half dozen of the donuts and as soon as I took a bite I was regretting that decision. I should have gone for the full dozen!

A sweet man in the orchard was wearing a Baylor sweatshirt {so I had to talk to him}.  He offered to take our picture.  It’s so hard to get a family picture.  I love this one.  Thanks, nice Texas man! :)

My littlest pumpkin

This morning we headed to the local tree farm where they host a lot of fall activities for the kids to do.  We had such a fun time and I can’t wait to share all about it, but I’m having a yard sale in the morning and I’m up way too late as it is so I’m leaving you with some pictures of my littlest (and stillest; let’s me take his picture) pumpkin.

Catching up…

My daddy called me today and asked I realized that it had been almost two weeks since I last posted on my blog.  I knew it had been a while, but I didn’t realize it had been that long.  Megan really put the peer pressure on me to keep up with what we were doing so know I’m doing a catch up post :)

Here are a few pictures of Megan and Hudson from the night before they left.  So sweet.  (On a side note: that is Hudson’s H wall in his room.  It’s my favorite thing in his room!  I know I need to post pictures of his room.  I’ll put it on my to do list!)

We had so much fun with them and can’t wait to see them again in less than two months!   Wow!  Can you believe that Christmas is right around the corner?!

Landree and Hudson have had the best time celebrating their birthday’s (over a month ago now) by receiving late gifts in the mail.  My other BFF, Shauna, was so sweet to send Landree the new Tinkerbell movie and Hudson a Dallas Cowboys shirt.  Landree was so excited.  She said she how did she know I’ve wanted this!  We watched it immediately and it’s really cute.  Oh, and we wore the Cowboys shirt yesterday even though Jeff said he was pretty sure that his team couldn’t beat the other team.

Grandma sent us a fun box a few days ago with a Rangers shirt for Jeff and Rangers outfit for Hudson along with the CUTEST. shirt with ‘band’ stuff on it and dark jeans.  He wore it to church yesterday morning and looked so cute!  Landree was super excited about her new hairclips, Rosetta, and clothes.  And I loved my new fall dish towels and magazines Grandma sent me.  Thanks so much Grandma!

And over the weekend Jeff had the annual senior high only camping trip so we stayed busy playing with friends and doing our best to not cook. at. all!  Friday morning we headed to the zoo with all of Landree’s best-ies.  I didn’t get a picture of them all looking at me, but I loved this one of them all checking out the owls.  Then after the zoo Landree, Hudson and I headed to our favorite Chick-fil-a with Lisa, Ella and Jake.  The girls had fun playing in the play area before heading home.  After naps Landree, Hudson and I met up with the Brewer’s for dinner at McAllister’s.  Kids eat free after 5 so all 3 of us ate dinner for 6.62.  It was so good (and cheap) we decided to go again on Saturday night :)

Saturday morning after Hudson woke up from his nap we ate a quick lunch and headed out to the state park where the students were camping.  We don’t get to spend tons of time with Jeff, but Landree loved getting to run around, and her favorite college student Lauren was there so she was happy as a lark.

They roasted a pig for dinner on Saturday night.  Y’all, this grossed me out!  YUCK!  Jeff wanted to show Landree, but I was scared it would scar her for life.  It didn’t even faze her!  She just laughed at it!

Landree and I have been crafting a little lately and these turned out so cute that I have to share.  We covered mason jars in orange tissue paper using Mod Podge.  I cut out cute (not scary) jack-o-lantern faces and let Landree glue them on the jars and then I went back over the jar again with the Mod Podge.  It dried clear and they look so cute with a little battery operated tea light.  We also painted the lids with green craft paint.  This is a super cheap craft and it was really easy to do.  Landree could do most everything by herself.

Ok, I think we are ‘caught up’ for now.  I just need to finish all of our birthday posts :/ UGH!  I love this time of year.  There is so much fun stuff going on!  Hope you’re all having a great fall!

Boo at the Zoo

Tonight we went to Boo at the Zoo with several friends. The kids had such a fun time. Landree had a blast. She walked most of the night and ate two suckers and a pack of Smarties! That's the most candy she's every eaten (and probably the reason she was able to walk around the entire zoo!)

Here are a few pictures from the evening in no particular order :)

Cooper and Landree resting on a picnic table (actually Landree is trying to talk Cooper into sharing some candy with her) Cooper is a fisherman. Landree is a ladybug. She didn't want to wear the hood.

Here's Layne (spiderman) and Landree and Camryn. Camryn has a really cute Mickey Mouse Costume she didn't want to wear. She's a fan of a race car driver. I don't know anything about racing so I don't know who's fan she is :)

The T's, B's, S's and us (minus Jeff-he was at H.S. family group)

Look at Cooper's sweet face!

Camryn waiting to start trick or treating!

The S family-doesn't Traci look awesome! Baby Hampton, the catepillar, is only 7 weeks old. He did such a good job. They are so photogenic.

Landree and Mommy-Landree is looking for some candy in that bag.
The T's-spiderman is their son.

Logan the monkey. Isn't this a cute picture?

Thanks friends! We had a fun night! Let's do it again Friday. I'm organizing Trunk or Treating at our church-can't wait!

What a difference a year makes?

What a difference a year makes, right? Well, at least when it comes to the way the babies look. It was still just as hard or even harder to get a good picture. They are more mobile now!

Caleb wasn't in the pictures from last year and Jackson and Skylar aren't in the pictures this year. I told Denise I'll photoshop Jack in :) The first 3 pictures are from last year.

Ok, everyone look at Mrs. Jennifer...

Landree, come back!

Ok, put Landree back in her spot...

Darn the one good one is off centered!

Cooper, where are you going?

No Cooper, and Logan is crying!

No Cooper and no Logan...so a year doesn't really make that much of a difference when it comes to taking a group shot of babies. Maybe next year...
