Cake pictures

We are having Landree and Hudson’s 1 and 4 year old pictures taken later this month at the zoo and botanical gardens, but I knew I wanted ‘cake pictures’ for Hudson’s 1st birthday.  I took these in our kitchen Saturday morning.  It was a cloudy day (of course it’s never cloudy and it was when I’m decide to take pictures!) so there is a shadow on his right side, but with a little editing I love them!  Here are a few of my favorites:

hudson 11 brighter-biggerhudson 12 sepia_-3  cake 5 black and white
cake 10
more cake cake 12 cake and foot hand and foot in caek
And of course, sister had to get in on the action too.  She asked about 100 times if she was going to go next and if she could eat cake.

Beach Pictures 2009 and Happy Mother's Day

Tonight we went to Isle of Palms to have our annual beach pictures taken. Stacey has done these for us the past two years and they are always my favorite pictures! I love beach pictures! You can see last years pictures here. I need to put our first session on here too. It was before I started our blog, but they are my all time favorite pictures. EVER. After Stacey had her turn I took a few for instant gratification-I was hoping to get more, but Landree was really done and was just interested in playing in the sand. These should help wet your appetite. I can't wait to see what Stacey got!

Oh, and it was CRAZY windy! These are all SOOC aside from the fabulous free presets I ran in lightroom. Thanks Rebecca! I love all of them; they are all perfect for beach pictures!

Happy Mother's Day to our wonderful Mommas!

To my momma-I couldn't ask for a better momma! I love you so much! You are my best friend. I know we are so lucky to have this type of relationship. Thanks for being my momma first and then my friend. I pray I can be as good of mom to Landree.

To Angie (my mother in law)-thank you for raising such a wonderful son! I couldn't ask for a better husband and dad. He is already such a wonderful dad to Landree I can't wait to see him in action with our son! I am so lucky to have him and you in my life.

Landree-I am so lucky to be your momma! I love you so much! I can't imagine our lives without you. You are such a joy and you have such a sweet heart. You're the best girl in the whole world!

Momma and Angie, I wish we were there to celebrate with you tomorrow, but here's a {big hug} from South Carolina! We love y'all!

Maternity Shots

Landree and were in TX for the weekend at my friend Megan's baby shower. We had a great time, but the weekend went way too fast. I planned to take some maternity shots for Megan-so we braved the cold, wet afternoon and headed to downtown Point (big time here) on Saturday afternoon to get a few pictures. The inside shots were taken at Megan's apartment with a black sheet hanging behind (high tech too).

Here are a few of my favorites:

So this is so not so maternity-but I love it! It's my favorite shot!

I have a picture similar to this from my maternity shots by Bridget Clarke. I love it and knew I wanted to do one for Megan.

Jackson

This morning after running a few errands Landree and I headed over to our friend Jack and Denise's house to 'practice' photography on him. These were all done while he was playing-I feel like I got a lot of good shots considering it took about 10 minutes. I did have a giant ladybug on my head to get the natural smiles, but I'll do whatever it takes :)

Beautiful Day!

After yesterday's post about our snow last week-I thought I'd share about our day today, a beautiful 75 degrees! We got up early and headed to the botanical gardens at the zoo to practice a little of what I learned at the workshop. At first I was wondering why I even tried. I had Landree's diaper bag, my reflector board, and my camera bag, oh, and Landree. A man with a fancy Nikon and all of his gear even offered to hold my reflector, but I just didn't feel confident enough. I did use of of Debbie's tips and had Landree lay down on her belly {so she couldn't run away!} I got several really cute shots. And when I got desperate I whipped out a sucker! Bribery always works.

I used one of Debbie's presets on these. She has a new set for sale on her site if you use lightroom. Enjoy!

A few more photos...

Last night I had so much fun playing around in Lightroom. I love it! It makes it so easy to edit photos, and it's quick! This is all one photo with different presets in Lightroom. Which do you like? By the way we are in a cemetery-the girls are posing on a big stump that was being dug up-on the other side was a tombstone laying on it's side {creepy}

2 girls with direct positive and auto

This is the same photo as the one above with a very faint Gaussian blur added in photoshop-now I don't know if you can even tell a difference. If you click on the photo it will take you to flickr and I saved the photos with the name of the presets I used.

2 girls with aged photo, punch, sepia

This is sort of washed out, but I think this looks like an ad:

2 girls with auto tone

Here is one of Aglae, one of our beautiful models from Saturday afternoon, I have several more of her to share, but this is the only one I've edited so far. I added a slight vignette in lightroom and a Gaussian blur in photoshop.

Weekend Review

This weekend was fabulous! I seriously can't say enough wonderful things about the weekend-and I won't I am on information overload and in need of a nap, but I couldn't stand not posting at least one picture.

Here is one of the first pictures of the day. The model is a doll, her face-too cute, the coloring-not my favorite:

But after a few touch ups in Lightroom-I am in love:
