Chuckie Cheese’s where a kid can be a kid!

Friday morning was a gloomy day around here, but we were hoping to get a little QT with our favorite guy so we decided to head to Chuck E. Cheese.  You know, where a kid can be a kid?  One of our friends who used to work there gifted us tokens and we’ve been able to go several times!  The germs in that place can give a momma a heart problem, but the kids LOVE it! And I have to say the skeet ball is pretty much my favorite game ever!

Landree loved this Jett Rider game,  it was like a flight simulator.

And of course Hudson loved riding the monster truck!

And I know Popee will be so proud to see these pictures of Hudson on a horse (even if it’s not a real one).  Hudson was really into riding the ‘horse’, Molly the mule, at Mia and Popee’s house until she moved a little too quick and he slid off the saddle.  Popee caught him (and I saw it all-and almost had a heart attack) and then Hud was pretty much done with Molly and a just a tad stand off-ish with Popee for a little while.  Well it looks like he’s back in the saddle-at least the plastic kind. 

And this is definitely the only time that you’ll catch Landree on a horse unless it’s at the zoo!

 

We followed up our big Cheese morning with lunch at ‘the grape place’ (Olive Garden).  That’s what I call a pretty perfect day! 

Sky Top Orchard 2011

I’m going to go ahead and call this our 1st annual trip to the Apple Orchard, because we went today and had such a wonderful time that I know we will be back year after year!  We started out by heading into the orchard to pick apples.  We found a good spot near some fuji trees and the kids picked and ate and ate.  I took pictures and sweet Jeff picked and pulled the wagon that weighed more than the apples, up and down the gigantic hills in the orchards.

After I carried Hudson and drug Landree we made it back to the barn and the kids played in all the little houses and slides.  I went in to pay for our apples and buy some of the other varieties.  We picked up some for friends and came home with 50 pounds of apples in the back of the car!  Only 25 pounds are for us :)  And after looking at recipes tonight for apple butter, and chips, and apple cake, oh my!  I’m starting to think we didn’t get enough.  The kids are going to be sick of apples, but I’m so excited.  I love being able to go into the freezer when it’s the ‘off season’ and have fresh, ripe, delicious fruit!  I feel like an ‘old-timer’ saying that.  I found this tonight on how to freeze apples.  Plus they told us at the orchard that they should last at least 3 months in the fridge. 

They also had all sorts of apple treats.  We got apple donuts {TO. DIE. FOR} and the kids got apple slushies.  I only bought a half dozen of the donuts and as soon as I took a bite I was regretting that decision. I should have gone for the full dozen! 

A sweet man in the orchard was wearing a Baylor sweatshirt {so I had to talk to him}.  He offered to take our picture.  It’s so hard to get a family picture.  I love this one.  Thanks, nice Texas man! :)

Landree’s First Movie

When we were in Texas we took Landree to see her first movie at the theater.  She had a ball!  The Princess and the Frog came out in December, and we just knew it was perfect timing that Landree would be able to see a princess movie for her first movie at the theater.  Well she wasn’t having it!  She didn’t want to watch that ‘scary’ movie.  We asked her several times and she really didn’t want to go.  But then I saw that the Squeakuel was out and asked if she would like to watch that.  She did and loved it!  She sat in Mia’s lap the entire time and they danced the whole time.  It’s a cute movie.  I’m not sure how much of it that she understood (it’s not a huge plot line, but she is 3), but the music is cute and there isn’t anything scary about it.  And on that note why do all Disney movies have to have an evil queen or wicked step mother or witch?  No wonder she is scared.  I guess this is technically Hudson’s first movie too.  I’m happy to report his slept through it.

Trunk or Treat

Last night our church hosted our annual "Trunk or Treat" where families pop open their trunks and hand out goodies to the kids of our church and community. Landree had originally planned to be Ariel if you'll remember, however, after her nap she was in a Cinderella kind of mood so that's what we went with. We layed with a turtleneck since the weather turned cooler on us today. The joys of Halloween in the south-you never know what kind of costume to get! We'll see what she wants to be on Thursday for a party at school. Hudson enjoyed the evening cuddled up nice and snugly in our new sling. I love it!

We finished the evening with a hayride and then dinner at Moe's. Can't get much better than that!

Friday we built a tent in the living room and it's official: Tents are so fun!

On a side note: I'm sure you noticed the flannel, too small, princess pj's. Well, I have a story for that. Landree is now officially in love with anything princess! I found this pair at a consignment sale this weekend and thought they were a 3T, but when I got them home they were a 2T. My skinny-mini can definitely wear them, but they are more like flannel capri's on her. She immediately wanted to put them on. I obliged, of course, whatever makes the girl happy! I am hoping if I let her wear all the princess pj's she wants she won't want to wear the 'real princess' clothes.

Beach Beauty

My little beach beauty and I headed to Garden City last weekend to visit Jeff. He's been at beach camp the last week and a half. Normally, he comes home in between camps, but we thought it might be fun to join him on the weekend this time instead of him coming home. He coordinated lots of great volunteers to help him get Sr. high kids off on Sunday and we all stayed at the camp for the weekend. There were a few other chaperons and cooks that stayed in between and we had a great time. We were exhausted when we got home on Sunday, but I was really happy with how well Landree did. Landree and I slept on two bunk beds pushed together and even though she went to bed late she was out like a light when she fell asleep. Like clockwork every morning she was up at 7 am. Poor Jeff may be more tired than ever after camp this year because when he's home I try to let him sleep in and he was right up with us at 7 every morning. And he never napped either because he went to do all his laundry on Saturday afternoon while we napped.

Saturday morning we headed to the beach-it was miserable. There was barely a breeze on the water at 8 am. I know I could have gotten so many cute pictures of Landree, but I was too tired to get out of my beach chair. Here are a few of the shots of caught:
